Amid regulatory and policy changes, the EV charging industry is growing rapidly, with 2025 setting new records for charger deployments. Utilization is improving and charger reliability has increased significantly compared to a few years ago. As the industry matures, many innovative companies have emerged. Across the value chain, they are helping improve utilization forecasting accuracy, streamline site design and engineering, reduce charger downtime, and enable new revenue models through utility integrations, to name just a few areas.
Meanwhile, the industry is entering a consolidation stage, with a strong push for profitable scale, rather than growth for growth’s sake. The improved understanding of the industry is bringing in a wider range of investors.
Energy Transition Consulting’s services for investors include:
Investment due diligence: augment your team with deep domain expertise, acquired through a unique background combining EV charging hardware/software, EV OEMs and commercial real estate.
Support for portfolio companies: business development, strategy assessment, market-entry strategies, fundraising support.
Building a business in the EV charging space is not for the faint of heart. You’re dealing with regulatory whiplash, evolving business models, new competitive threats, shifting investor sentiment, the impact of AI on product offerings, and a more demanding client base, that has expanded beyond early adopters.
Energy Transition Consulting can assist you with:
Strategy review: mapping out the value chain and competitor set, assessing value proposition and differentiation, exploring new commercial models.
Business development: assessing your customer vertical focus, enhancing your sales pitch and leveraging an extensive industry network, to gain access to key prospective clients.
Corporate development: developing a compelling investor pitch, identifying and engaging strategic and institutional investor targets, providing support during due diligence.
Whether you’re a fleet, workplace, multi-family, retail or hospitality owner/occupier, EV charging is rapidly moving beyond the pilot stage. Property owners see proven value from EV charging infrastructure, through increased occupancy, higher rents or room rates, improved return-to-work compliance. However, deciding on the right commercial model is complex, with options ranging from full ownership to a fully outsourced, hands-off approach. This is further complicated by the fact that many property owners/occupiers are unfamiliar with the EV charging solution providers they can choose from.
Energy Transition Consulting supports property owners & occupiers:
Strategy development: assess commercial models, define value proposition
Charging infrastructure design: optimized charger count and layout
Vendor selection: EV charging hardware & software, charge point operators, financing, maintenance
